Reassessing Traffic Accidents in Los Angeles - A Digital Humanities Project
Reassessing traffic accidents in Los Angeles
Project purpose
In the United States, traffic accidents are on the rise and have become, in some situations, responsible for more deaths than diseases that previously afflicted the population (Vasconcellos, 1996). Traditional methods used in the United States, which are already familiar with this severe issue, have been used in traffic planning techniques to this problem. The perpetuation of inadequate traffic safety conditions, on the other hand, demonstrates the shortcomings of methods available and dominating approaches. Other techniques and causal interpretations are required to allow for a qualitative shift in the problem's treatment and, as a result, a significant reduction in the frequency and severity of traffic accidents (Mohan and Tiwari, 1998).The objective of this project is to construct a visualization of this phenomenon. I hope that traffic accidents can be better understood if they are analyzed comprehensively regarding their influence on traffic safety conditions.
